City to reopen Pat O’Rourke Recreation and Aquatic Center after $1 million renovation

The City of El Paso will reopen the Pat O’Rourke Community Recreation and Aquatic Center.

The facility was temporarily closed for renovations.

The $1 million enhancements will help accommodate sports, fitness, aerobics, games, and outdoor leisure activities, and include the following improvements:

  • New gym flooring
  • New tiles for the pool deck
  • New roof ladder
  • New wall openings in the weight room and gym
  • Replacement of two reception desks
  • Replacement of patio LED lights
  • New furniture for the patio area
  • Installation of automatic door at the entrance of the senior center room
  • New tile for fitness room restrooms
  • New fitness equipment
  • Repairs to twelve (12) concrete columns in basement
  • An enhanced HVAC system

The city will host a reopening ceremony on Wednesday at the center at 5 pm

The renovations were made possible through the City of El Paso’s 2012 Quality of Life bond program.
