UNION W.Va. (WVVA) – Renovation work on the Monroe County courthouse is beginning to make progress. Monroe County Commissioner Kevin Galford says work on the exterior of the building as well as the upper courtroom is going steady.
Galford says once work on the courthouse is completed the renovations will include two additional annex buildings on the front and back of the building with two separate elevators. Along with that another annex room will be built on top of the courthouse’s records room to serve as judge’s chambers.
“It’s mainly going to be a couple different conference rooms just minor stuff. There’s no big offices going anywhere. Like I said there’s going to be some small areas where we have offices and stuff. Small office spaces that we can use for overflow in different offices,” said Galford.
Galford says there’s no exact timeline set in stone for the completion of the work but he believes it may be done by next summer. DCI Shires is the company in charge of performing the renovations.
