Daikin has introduced the X Series, a residential heat pump system that unifies air-to-air heating and cooling with air-to-water heating and domestic hot water production in a single outdoor unit. This marks the first time Daikin has combined these technologies in its residential portfolio, offering a compact solution for managing home comfort throughout the year.
Designed for Irish Homes
The X Series targets new-build and fully renovated homes up to 150 square meters, delivering heating, cooling, hot water, and hydraulic heating through a space-saving system. Kyrian Opstaele, General Manager at Daikin Ireland, noted that Irish homes have historically prioritized heat retention, but recent summers have challenged this approach.
“Traditionally, Irish homeowners have focused almost entirely on keeping warmth in,” Opstaele stated. “However, in recent years we have experienced increasingly hot summer periods and we are seeing more conversations about homes in Ireland becoming uncomfortably warm during heatwaves.”
He explained that the X Series provides year-round comfort without requiring homeowners to choose between winter heating and summer cooling. The system features a single outdoor unit with five connections, enabling simultaneous operation of air-to-air and air-to-water functions.
Features and Benefits
The X Series allows air-to-air and air-to-water functions to run in the same mode, offering flexibility and efficiency. For properties with limited outdoor space, it eliminates the need for multiple units while simplifying installation. The system uses R-32 refrigerant, which requires no special safety precautions and supports various indoor unit options.
Homeowners can control the system remotely via the Daikin Onecta App, which includes energy consumption monitoring for connected air-to-air units. Every installation is backed by Daikin’s Stand By Me platform, providing access to a nationwide service network.
Standard specifications include one outdoor unit, up to four air-to-air indoor units, one hydraulic indoor unit, and domestic hot water tank options of 180 liters or 230 liters. The system offers up to A+++ air-to-air cooling efficiency and A+++ (35°C) air-to-water heating efficiency.
Support and Specifications
The X Series is compatible with the Daikin Onecta App and includes A+ domestic hot water efficiency. It is suitable for new-build or fully renovated homes up to 150m², with a design that streamlines commissioning and maintenance for installers.
