Priority Construction Achieves NSAI BIM Certification
Priority Construction has made history by becoming the first Irish organization to secure BIM certification through NSAI, utilizing the Information Management Plans developed by Build Digital. This milestone marks a significant achievement for both the company and Ireland’s digital construction program.
The success of Priority Construction demonstrates that digital transformation is accessible to all, regardless of the organization’s size or resources. By utilizing Build Digital’s free, step-by-step Information Management Plans, small to medium contractors can now establish a solid foundation for internal processes and stay competitive in the face of expanding public sector BIM mandates. These plans provide a clear framework for managing information across projects, defining key processes, responsibilities, and decision-making structures in accordance with ISO 19650-2.
Priority Construction’s journey to BIM certification with NSAI involved adopting the Build Digital templates, which required a thorough examination of their existing practices. However, the company found the Information Management Plans to be logical, sensible, and straightforward to complete, allowing them to consider their objectives, resources, technology, and implementation requirements in a structured manner. The outcome was a practical framework that supports the company’s ongoing project delivery, rather than simply a document created to meet certification requirements.

Effective information management has numerous benefits throughout the project lifecycle, including reduced ambiguity, limited duplication, and improved coordination among stakeholders. This, in turn, leads to better decision-making, increased transparency, and a more reliable project record. Priority Construction’s achievement showcases the importance of clear leadership, structured guidance, and a willingness to examine existing processes in driving meaningful progress.
Connor McCarthy, Information Manager at Priority Construction, noted: “The Build Digital resources and templates have been very important in getting Priority Construction over the line with certification. The Information Management Plans videos and guidance have been essential, setting us on a clear path to meeting the Irish BIM Mandate when it reaches the threshold for the projects we typically bid for. Furthermore, Build Digital offers a lot of practical advice on BIM adoption.”
Robert Moore, Build Digital Project Lead, said, “We specifically designed the Information Management Plans to be compliant with ISO 19650.”

The introduction of BIM requirements within the Capital Works Management Framework is progressing across public works projects. As the project-value threshold reduces and BIM requirements extend to a broader range of contracts, contractors will need to demonstrate their ability to manage information effectively. Priority Construction has taken a proactive approach by preparing its systems and people in advance, providing the company with a competitive advantage when bidding for future work, particularly in the public sector.
The NSAI certification provides independent assurance that Priority Construction has established a robust approach to BIM and information management. This assurance gives clients confidence in the company’s ability to manage project information consistently and under controlled conditions, aligning with best-practice guidance developed through Build Digital and the direction of travel for public works delivery in Ireland.
