The Architecture + Building Expo 2026 will feature two Breakfast Briefings, taking place on Wednesday, 7 October, and Thursday, 8 October. These sessions have become a highlight of the overall programme, with a format that includes a keynote facilitator and a small panel of industry figureheads.

The emphasis is on interactive engagement, with significant audience participation. The briefings are sector-inclusive, involving collaboration between the RIAI, SEAI, CIBSE Ireland, and other professional and contracting bodies.

The first briefing, “Maximising MMC Adoption,” will take place on Wednesday, 7 October, at 8:30 AM. It will discuss the challenges and benefits of modern methods of construction (MMC), an umbrella term for innovative building techniques that shift processes from traditional onsite construction to factory-based manufacturing and digital engineering.

Facilitator Pat Kirwan will oversee a panel discussion between industry representatives, including Paul Tighe, Paul Tierney, Denise Murray, and Brian Kennedy. A Q&A session will also be held.

The second briefing, “Simplified BER – Experience so far,” will take place on Thursday, 8 October, at 8:30 AM. It will review the impact of the new Simplified Building Energy Rating (BER) scale, identify challenges encountered, and facilitate information sharing.

Facilitator Michael Curran will oversee a panel discussion between Patrycja Kochaniuk, Joe Durkan, and Stephen McGovern. A Q&A session will also be held. Both briefings will take place at the RDS Main Hall, with tea, coffee, and croissants available from 8:00 AM.
